I've been running the NorthWest of Us List Server since early 1997 using an AOL account, Claris Emailer, mail actions and AppleScripts. This was a quick & dirty setup, which has stayed around longer than I thought would.
I'm writing new List Server software that will take over from the current setup. To that end, I talked about how List Servers work, and how they should work. We went over how they handle subscriptions, getting mail, sending and handling bounces and vacation programs.
