PSIG 28: Thursday October 7th, 1999
Attendance: Since PSIG 2, I've wanted a presentation on Perl. I never felt confident enough in my own Perl to give one, so Bradley Slavik demonstrated Perl 5. Using MacPerl 5 on in the background and BBEdit 5 in the foreground, Bradley showed off the various constructs and implicit variables that Perl offers. Finally, after much trouble getting information from a Bronze PowerBook G3 into an 8500 whose Ethernet port was non-responsive, Bradley took a sample data file and wrote a script to parse the info on the spot. I threatened Carl Jester that he way be the first person in history exiled from PSIG due to excessive punnage (that is, too many puns). Thursday, October 07, 1999
