WWDC 2004 by Bite-Sized Bullets

• If you couldn't attend and want to know what was discussed, hit the public session descriptions. Many technologies and upcoming OS tweaks that didn't hit the keynote (and aren't in the sneak peek) are listed there. Looking over the list, I can pick out the new logging subsystem, PDFKit, ImageIO, Quartz Composer, Core Data, 64-bit support, HTML editing support in WebKit, SyncServices and improved Cocoa AppleScript support.
• I roomed with Peter Sichel and Jon Gotow at the Downtown Marriott Courtyard. Free wired internet in the room (Sanford had to pop an $16/night for his at the Marriott [wicked grin]).
• Dinners: Sunday with friends at Buca di Beppo. Monday with fellow bloggers at Buzz's WWDC meetup. Tuesday with friends at Max's. Wednesday with the WebObjects BOF at Chevy's for watermelon margaritas and some dim sum place with BANG folks. Thursday at the beer bash. Friday with more friends at Biscuits and Blues and ice cream at Ghirardelli's.
• Save Friday morning, all of the starting 9am sessions didn't hold particular interest for me. Extra pillow time == good.
• Got good response wearing my AdHoc lab coat to the beer bash, including a WWDC first-timer saying "are there more people like you at AdHoc that I can talk to?". Yes... yes there are (grin).
• On the bus ride to the beer bash, Ron Avitzur told me the story behind Graphing Calculator. I knew a little bit about it from Greg Robbins, but I had no idea the extent of it. Next time you see me, ask me to retell it. It will be a worth-while 45 minutes.
• I'll try to be less sullen on my blog. (just kidding, Buzz).
