NetNewsWire Makes You Fat

Notes
I'm getting dangerously close to having to start a Brent Simmons Sycophant topic, so let's nip that in the bud with a negative entry.

When I don't go out for lunch, I tend to process my NetNewsWire queue while eating at my desk. That in itself isn't bad -- I'm all about overlapping operations.

What is bad:

  • I tend to not pay attention to what I'm eating. That means I won't notice when I'm satisfied, so I eat more.
  • Even worse: I'll finish the food but won't be done with my queue. All too often, that puts me in "I need more food" mode, when it should put me in a "get back to work" mode.

I think it comes down to that I view reading feeds as a luxury, one that I can really only justify if I make it cheap by overlapping it with an otherwise necessary operation.
