NetNewsGator Punditry as Extracted from Movie Poster Tag Lines
So, NewsGator bought out Ranchero. Incredible but true! The deal snags Brent as "a product architect". Why is his head worth one million dollars and the lives of 25 people? Hmm, I don't think the terms of the deal were disclosed. And I think they got more than his head. Is Sheila part of the contract? If they only knew she had the power. He told me he got the idea from Nick Bradbury. They only met once, but it changed their lives forever. The underlying theme of the deal appears to be Brent's cycles. It manifests in two facets: tech support and syncing. Tech support is a major consumer of Brent's cycles. Man Has Made His Match... Now It's His Problem Hopefully NewsGator brings competent and responsive tech support to the table, freeing Brent to write more software. Everything he touches turns to excitement! Syncing won't write itself, but it should be cool once Brent's gotten it working. I need something like that for my Treo. The Most Fantasmagorical Stage Musical In The History Of Everything I see you're excited by the prospect as well. Reading the interview, Greg Reinacker mentions markets and market share a lot. What's his message to his competitors? For God's Sake, Get Out! I wonder how this effects the rest of the market? Who will survive and and what will be left of them? I bet the both the web service and desktop apps guys aren't going to roll over that quickly. What's their message to Greg? No one stays at the top forever. You have to admit they have an uphill climb. How do you kill something that can't possibly be alive? Well, you can't. But it's possible this deal will hinder NNW, weaking it. The development of non-NewsGator syncing (.Mac, FTP, Bloglines) has been frozen. Beware the eyes that paralyze! This may be a chink in NNW's armor. NNW seems chained to the centralized pay-for service model now. Other developers have the freedom to offer syncing with free services and develop decentralized options. The all night joints of dames and java! The rough-tough guys and the wide-eyed dolls who get their kicks from BENNY! I don't think the developers are really that wild. Well, maybe Eric Albert. He leaves women feeling more alive than they've ever felt before. Really? I surprised he hasn't blogged that. Well, I guess I should wrap up. But before I go, I want to mention I'm considering offering $500 to the first person who sends me a complete and correct list of movies these tag lines are from. In the next seventy-two hours almost everyone he trusts will try to kill him. Update: It's Awesome. Totally Awesome! Reese Schreiber nails all but two:
Thanks for playing! Here's the two Reese missed: Dog Day Afternoon (scroll down) and Death in Small Doses. Wednesday, October 05, 2005
