What's a MacBook Pro doing in my fridge?

Notes

Installing Mac OS X, of course.

I went to reinstall Mac OS X 10.4 from scratch, from the original DVDs. However, the MBP had difficulty mounting the disks. The same disks mounted fine in my Quad and my old Pismo, so they weren’t the problem. Furthermore, CDs mounted fine in the MBP, so its mechanism wasn’t shot. The MBP didn’t have problems with these installation DVDs in the past.

It’s fairly warm and humid today, so on a hunch I stuck the MBP and the DVDs into the fridge for 45 minutes and tried again. Success!

Next I plan on recording from the iSight to discover if the light really does go out.

Update: OK, you guys persist on mailing me, asking about the iSight/fridge/light experiment. I’m sorry to report I’ve tried a number of times, but the results remain inconclusive. Each time I close the door, the video cuts out. Perhaps it’s for the best, as a wise bus driver once said: “Ho whoa! Some things man is not meant to know.”
