Googlefone
One of Google's little-known features is that it can look up phone numbers. This feature is somewhat hidden, so I created a website to help bring this great functionality into the open: Googlefone.com. While the searches are limited to the US, I think you'll find the site handy.
Here's a couple of nonobvious tricks:
- You can do a reverse lookup. Enter the phone number into the "Name" field and leave the "Place" field blank. Google will return the number's name and address. The number format is flexible -- (847) 555-1212, 847-555-1212 and 8475551212 all yield the same result.
- You can use a first initial of the name. If the first name is present, Google will filter by it. This may not be what you want. For example, if you try searching for "Chris Doe", but he's listed as "Christopher Doe", your search will fail. However, "C Doe" will succeed (though would also match "Cathy Doe").
